School Visitors

At Callands, we strive to provide a rich, well-rounded curriculum for all children. Callands welcomes many visitors to school for a range of enrichment activities to support our social, emotional well-being and academic development.
The Bikeability team visited our Y5 and Y6 children. Bikeability cycle training equips children with vital life skills. Pupils not only learn to cycle, they gain independence, social skills and a sense of wellbeing. After Bikeability, children are better at responding to risk and report increased confidence. As a result, more children cycle to school which in turn improves mental health and well-being.
The Travel Choices Team from Warrington Borough Council delivered some road safety sessions to Year 6. They learnt about the key topics that have been identified as areas of concern for 8-11 year olds, including distraction from peers, behaviour on public transport, in-car safety, being safe and being seen, cycle safety and other general road awareness issues.
The children in Reception have enjoyed a recent visit from Gill Taylor, a professional artist. She explored textures and materials with the children as they completed their own 'land art' canvases using natural objects. Some of this work is now on display in our school entrance!
Year 6 were visited by the Mental Health Support Team from Warrington Borough Council to deliver a SATs preparation workshop ahead of the May 2025 KS2 SATs.
Because we all know how important reading is, we provide many activities and opportunities for our children to develop their love of reading. In the Autumn term, we invited author Dan Worsley to come to Callands Primary to do storytelling workshops with all of the children. Every year group enjoyed their session and they asked some excellent questions too. Dan even commented that our children are mega! Thanks to Dan Worsley for such a creative and high-energy day!
Year 5 and Year 6 were visited by PC Matthews to raise awareness of nationally recognised online safety concerns. In support of Callands’ curriculum, the children have further explored the laws and reality of posting on social media now that they are reaching the age of accountability in the eyes of the law.
Warrington Wolves Community Foundation, who are the charitable arm of the Warrington Wolves Super League
Club, passionately deliver CPD and coaching to our Y3 and Y4 team at Callands. These encourage and facilitate all ages of children to enjoy Rugby League and bring a sense of belonging to the town, while promoting a positive PE experience.
Callands had a visit from Safety Seymour, a superhero bear! Safety Seymour taught the children about carbon monoxide (CO) and how to protect themselves by making their homes safer. The children all received a CO alarm and were so excited to share with their families!
