Safeguarding Children
Safeguarding Offer at Callands Primary Academy
Our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is Mrs Bentley.
Our Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) is Mrs Whittaker.
Our Safeguarding Lead is Mrs Westwood.
Our Safeguarding Governor is Nigel Spencer.
Callands Primary Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
Our safeguarding children/child protection policy is reviewed by the Welfare Team and ratified by our Governors on an annual basis. All staff receive annual safeguarding training at the start of the new academic year and further training throughout the year.
Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with their parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would compromise the child’s welfare.
Our school follows recruitment procedures laid out by the Local Authority that support the safeguarding of our children.
If you are concerned about a child’s welfare, please record your concern, and any observations or conversations heard, and report it to the Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSL) at the earliest opportunity on the same day. Please DO NOT carry out your own investigation.
If your concerns relate to the actions or behaviour of a member of staff (which could suggest that they are unsuitable to work with children) then you should report this to the Headteacher (or the Deputy/Assistant Headteachers in their absence) who will consider what action to take.
Also, you can contact Warrington MAG on 01925 443322 if you are worried about a child.
If the concern relates to the Headteacher, please refer the matter to the Chair of Governors - Nigel Spencer.
Our Mental Health First Aiders at school are: Mrs Whittaker.

CEOP
CEOP helps any child or young person under the age of 18 who is being pressured, forced or tricked into taking part in sexual activity of any kind. You can visit the CEOP Safety Centre for information and advice and make a report directly to CEOP.
